
State-run split mortgages urged by home loan body
The Irish Mortgage Holders’ Organisation wants the Government to introduce a State-sponsored split mortgage that would allow local authorities to supplement the payments made by home owners in loan arrears and in danger of having their properties repossessed. It also wants a mortgage-to-lease scheme to replace the mortgage-to-rent one that has failed to gain traction and it has proposed changes to the insolvency regime. AIB to refund overcharge on mortgages
AIB has released a statement after some mortgage holders did not receive interest relief payments for February. The bank says the outstanding relief payments will be paid in full, in one payment, as soon as possible. Around 1,600 accounts were affected. AIB said the relief payments were not made at source as the last day of February fell on a weekend. Bank asks High Court to appoint receiver over contents, fixtures, and fittings of well-known Galway
Bank of Scotland today asked Mr Justice Tony Hunt in the High Court to appoint a receiver over the contents, fixtures and fittings of the well-known Forster Court Hotel, which employs 34 people and is just off Eyre Square, in Galway The bank claimed that sale of the contents would help the receiver, already appointed over the hotel itself, realise the maximum value of the hotel which he intended to sell and which was valued at €2.75m.
